My Equine Services

It is really rewarding to see horses change because of what you have done with them.

Are you looking for a horse that is started right, or are you looking for someone to start your horse? You've come to the right place, for that is my specialty and passion. Do you have a desire to own a specific breed, in a specific color? I can find the right one and start it for you. I have partnered up with Idaho, USA, quality APHA-breeder Mr. Dennis Shelton and start and subsequently market quality APHA's for him.

My approach to horse training is very methodical and academic. I do not just buy horses: I check them and test them (physically, as well as their horsenality), check their blood lines, and then buy them and train them. No back alley horse can match the bred-in qualities of a horse with quality behavior bred into him. But breeding lines alone do not make a horse a success. It's all about good bloodlines + a proper disposition + starting it right. And then, of course, she should be handled well. I can do the starting for you, or the finding and the starting. And - where needed - can coach you in the handling.

Ever since I was a very small girl, horses were my passion. Born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands created plenty of opportunity to a good riding start on the country's priced Dutch Warmbloods. The picture on the right shows me brushing my aunt's warmblood, before being hoisted into the saddle for lessons. My family immigrated to BC, Canada where we started to hobby-farm horses. My Dutch aunt challenged me to start with Parelli. It was then that my real growth began. I have since studied and applied the techniques taught by Parelli, Lyons, Anderson, Martens and Karen Rohlf (dressage specialist), and worked with many horses. Our regional most experienced horse handler, Mr. John Soles, has also been instrumental in the proverbial crossing of bridges and encouraging me to press on, and I work with him regularly, and he endorses my work as a horse trainer.

What I love to do most with horses is to start young ones right, because it is always so rewarding to see something beautiful emerge out of something that once was wild. I also love to finish and correct problems in horses. It is really rewarding to see horses change because of what you have done with them.
